Power Poptopia
Power Poptopia is a power pop blog. Yes, it’s named after the Rhino power pop compilation which itself was named after the now defunct power pop festival. And yes, music subgenres are fuzzy sets and we could argue forever whether an artist is playing power pop, or just pop rock, or maybe pop punk. And yes, some artists may be an obvious example of a power pop artist, some artists may just have a power pop period, and some artists may even have just one power pop song in their catalogue. That’s alright. If it has a catchy melody, a chunky guitar riff, vocal harmonies, and a drum beat with muscle then you’ll likely find it featured on this blog at some point.
This blog is run by the following people:
drums-and-wires – Still trying to figure out which TMBG John she likes best. (The correct answer is Danny Elfman)
thenoisefigures – Is old enough to remember when XTC’s “Senses Working Overtime” was released but not old enough to remember when “Making Plans for Nigel” was.
